Every bass fisherman knows what happens to a plastic worm when you hook a bass. You dont expect to get it back without a tear, if you get it back at all. Typical scenario: set the hook, bass jumps, worm tears, flies off the hook and lands in the water. Maybe not on the first fish but its life expectancy is severely limited. Do you fish tournaments? You're not putting that same worm back on. You're grabbing a brand new one and slipping it on real quick to catch another one. What happened to the first one? Its sinking down to litter the bottom of the lake. If it makes it. Some fish pick up that worm as it freefalls. Did that worm have scent and salt in it? If it did its swelling inside that fish. It will not be able to pass it out. Not good for the fish or the environment.

Our group met back at the cabin and swapped stories, the same stories. Caught alot of fish, lost alot of baits. If we hadn't been making these worms, the total retail price amount of baits used would easily have been in the range of $20 per person per day. WOW! Four guys for 7 days = 28 days x $20 a day. Almost $600 in worms for the week. OUTRAGEOUS! That was more than our food bill for the entire trip! We did manage to collect the torn worms as we caught fish and discard them appropriately. Some did fall off during the fight and I have no doubt that in some of those blitzes we fished, the thrown worms were picked up by other bass. As they hit the water you saw the boil. We were lucky to catch 2 fish before our regular soft plastics fell apart.

'Wakki Stikks'

We travelled to our favorite smallmouth lake in Maine one year and had a blast. The fishing was phenomenal!
