Every bass fisherman knows what happens to a plastic worm when you hook a bass. You dont expect to get it back without a tear, if you get it back at all. Typical scenario: set the hook, bass jumps, worm tears, flies off the hook and lands in the water. Maybe not on the first fish but its life expectancy is severely limited. Do you fish tournaments? You're not putting that same worm back on. You're grabbing a brand new one and slipping it on real quick to catch another one. What happened to the first one? Its sinking down to litter the bottom of the lake. If it makes it. Some fish pick up that worm as it freefalls. Did that worm have scent and salt in it? If it did its swelling inside that fish. It will not be able to pass it out. Not good for the fish or the environment.
We went to our favorite smallmouth lake in Maine one year and had a blast. The fishing was phenomenal! We fished our favorite colored hand poured stick baits, loaded with salt, and caught fish after fish! Lost alot of baits though, that salt makes the baits tear easily, but who cares. We make them. We can just make more. Then we thought outside of the box.
Our group met back at the cabin and swapped stories, the same stories. Caught alot of fish, lost alot of baits. If we hadn't been making these worms, the total retail price amount of baits used would easily have been in the range of $20 per person per day. WOW! Four guys for 7 days = 28 days x $20 a day. Almost $600 in worms for the week. OUTRAGEOUS! That was more than our food bill for the entire trip! We did manage to collect the torn worms as we caught fish and discard them appropriately. Some did fall off during the fight and I have no doubt that in some of those blitzes we fished, the thrown worms were picked up by other bass. As they hit the water you saw the boil.
So, with that experience, we searched for answers. How do we keep these baits from tearing? How do we help to keep the environment cleaner? How do we save money? Can we actually make a difference? Two years in the making and we have all the answers to these questions. And more.
Wakki Stikks™ !
Our contribution to the fishing industry. When rigged correctly, these baits will last 10 times longer at the very least. We're not claiming invincibility but rather durability. Each and every hand poured bait we manufacture has our signature 'vinsert' technology molded into it, which is a nylon tubing inserted in the mold before production. Our baits poured with this insert are the key to the Wakki Stikk success. Tears at the hook are minimally nonexistant on hook sets and jumping bass. Action to the bait is not hampered in the least bit. Heavy 5 inch stick baits can be wacky rigged and thrown without fear of tearing when loading up on the rod. Less baits tearing means less falling off into the water. Environmentally its doing its part to keep our waters cleaner and the fish safer. AND (drum roll please) it means you can save money. YES! A LOT OF MONEY! When properly rigged, we guarantee it will outlast your old stick bait hands down 10 to 1. Seem like a fish story? Sorry, this one didn't get away and they're available only at Vinnerbaits.
The hottest new element in custom fishing lures...
Welcome to the next level of soft plastic baits.
Most fishermen enjoy fishing soft plastics. They are the most versatile and diverse category of lures ever used for bass fishing. Fished correctly, they account for probably half of all bass caught during the course of a year. And they are probably the most neglected bait fished.
